Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.Preferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA), Registered Landscape Architect (RLA), Professional Project Manager (PMP), or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) for preferred qualifications.Position SummaryThe Director of Maintenance Project Management (MPM) reports to the Senior Director of Operations and Infrastructure in the Facilities Management Division. The Director of PMP is responsible for the overall managerial oversight of the construction project management office (CPMO) consisting of 10 construction project managers, superintendents and contract specialists. This position leads the development, strategy, assignment, execution, and administration of campus maintenance construction projects in all phases of project management. The position is responsible for the complete management of the annual Major Repair and Renovation (MRR) program cycle and many efforts relating to sustainability and utility management. Typical project portfolio consists of renovations, repair, maintenance, and customer funded requests. Duties also include supervision of all FMD contracting actions and oversight of contracting personnel. This leader sets the strategic direction for the department, as well as ensures the team is performing effectively and efficiently. The Director of MPM will identify and implement best practices for the department and develop metrics to evaluate and manage performance. This director shall be a technical expert in building systems and construction project management as well as being a dynamic and experienced leader for large organizations. Work shall be performed in accordance with general policies and procedures; however, the Director of MPM is needed to make technical decisions and exercise considerable initiative and creativity to accomplish the mission. This employee will have considerable experience in team leadership and facilities maintenance, and construction project management.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Licensed Professional Engineer, Registered Architect or Landscape Architect, with the ability to be registered in the state of Georgia within 6 months of date of hire.
  • Certified Education Facilities Professional (CEFP) and/or LEED Accredited Professional, Certified Construction Management Professional, or similar.
  • In-depth knowledge of the modern principles and practices of construction, project management, and maintenance.
  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience in, modern building maintenance, alteration, project management, and operations.
  • Strong record of mentorship and leadership.
  • Extensive experience in management of facilities operations, planning, work management, training, and organizational control.
  • Ability to plan and supervise the work of technical and professional subordinates.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret and carry out complex oral and written instructions, including the reading and interpretation of construction documents.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with diverse constituencies including university faculty, staff, and administrative personnel.
  • Ability to respond to university emergencies 24--7--365.
  • Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of business continuity, incident command systems and emergency response and recovery.
  • Ability to think and act decisively under duress and during emergency situations, placing human safety before the preservation of property.
  • Prepare budgets and monitor the disbursement of funds.
  • Analyze highly conceptual issues and problems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using standard office software applications for facilities management systems.Physical Demands
    • Sit at a computer for up to 8 hours a day.
    • Traverse active construction job sites.
    • Climb ladders and work from heights while wearing approved personal protective equipment.
